Welcome

The multiplication of disciple makers explodes when it is the personality of the church and not a program.

Strategy

Carefully consider these thoughts to have a strong start.1. First of all, think in terms of how many Disciple Makers you want to have by next year.2. Understand that there are wrong ways to disciple in your church, failure is assured:
a. Discipleship is done in a group.
b. Discipleship is not in the Church Schedule
c. Discipleship has a small part in the church schedule
3. Know How to Use the Lessons.Follow the assignments and procedures provided in the lessons and make sure the disciple has all the lessons. The discipler introduces the lesson. The disciple reads each Bible verse in the lesson. The discipler provides the answers for the blanks in the lessons. The discipler only studies pages of the discipleship lessons as the discipler and disciple are meeting and studying together.Do not assign pages of the lessons ahead for the disciple to try to complete on their own.The lessons are to be taught by the discipler.Do not use the lessons that you disciple with as Sunday school lessons, sermons or for any other purpose than discipleship.Remember discipleship is one to one.

10 Steps to Starting Discipleship in an Existing Church

1.Start discipling personally.2. Personally select and train your first Disciple Makers. You'll have to train them as a group but let them practice one on one with the plan below.3. While training your first Disciplers, communicate your burden to the church – preach and teach on one on one discipleship.4. Prepare and announce the placement one on one discipleship officially has in your church schedule.5. Train your first Disciplers in Lessons One and Two. You can continue training them even though they start with their own disciple. They just need to be ready before they get to the next lesson. They should meet one on one but they can have more than one disciple, just at different times.6. After preparing your first Disciplers, preaching and teaching on discipleship, then have several Commitment Sundays, presenting a Commitment Card similar to the card below to your congregation enlisting new disciples.7. Assign the Disciplers and disciples to each other. Only meet one on one. Not couples with couples. Not one with two. One on one gets the best results.8. Monitor when and where disciplers and disciples meet for a few weeks to make sure everything is going smoothly then let them meet when it's best for them.9. Keep Records. See the download section for some ideas.10. Continually appeal for people to join one on one discipleship in your printed church materials and church services. Make it a part of your Invitation.
